"The Mind Arrest" by Aparnaa

Once, a dog trainer set an experiment by placing a German shepherd into a large kennel and furry and small Pomeranian dogs in same kennel.
Naturally, as expected, the German shepherd
quickly jumped and attacked the small Pomeranian dogs even he ate some of them. So,
the trainer removed all the small dogs from the kennel and decided to give a
lesson to German shepherd through his experiment.
The dog trainer then inserted a strong piece of clear fiberglass into the kennel,
creating two separate partitions. Then, he placed German shepherd on one side
of the fiberglass and a new set of small Pomeranian dogs on the other.
All over again, the German shepherd attacked.
This time, however, he banged to the fiberglass divider and bounced off.
Without any fear, the German shepherd repeated this behavior after every few
minutes. Meanwhile, the small Pomeranian dogs were playing around safely in the
second partition. Eventually, about an hour into the experiment, the German shepherd
gave up.
This experiment was repeated several times over
the next few months. Each time, the German shepherd got less violent and made some
more efforts to attack the small Pomeranian dogs, until the German shepherd gave
up.
The dog trainer then removed the fiberglass
divider, but the German shepherd didn’t attack. The German shepherd was trained
to believe a barrier existed between it and the small Pomeranian dogs and the small
Pomeranian dogs were playing wherever they wished fearlessly in the kennel.
Similarly, many of us, after experiencing
setbacks and failures, emotionally give up and stop trying. Like the German shepherd
in the story, got mind arrest and started believing that because we were failed
in the past, we will always be unsuccessful. Apparently, we continue to see a blockade
in our heads, even when no ‘categorical’ blocked exists between where we are
and where we ahead.
